SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif —
A 15-year-old San Luis Obispo High School student has been arrested for a hate crime, after an investigation uncovered that he had been bullying a 15-year-old autistic teen since the beginning of the school year, according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
Police say the suspect sent threatening and derogatory text messages related to the victim’s special needs and perceived sexual orientation. The investigation also revealed that not only did the suspect threatened to physically hurt the victim but there was a physical altercation at the high school between the two in late February.
Police also discovered that the suspect had approached the victim after finding out that he had filed a police report.
Officers arrested the 15-year-old suspect on Thursday, March 1st and he was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Juvenile Services Center. Bail has been set at $75,000.
