Berkeley teacher’s arraignment on riot charges set Yvette Felarca faces charges of inciting and participating in a riot, and assault likely to cause great bodily injury


SACRAMENTO — The arraignment of a Berkeley teacher on charges stemming from a riot outside the state Capitol last year has been set for Aug. 10, the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office announced Tuesday.

Yvette Felarca, 47, faces charges of inciting and participating in a riot and assault likely to cause great bodily injury, the office announced last week. Felarca, who teaches at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. in Sacramento County Superior Court, Department 63, located at the Main Jail, 651 I Street, according to a press release.

Felarca, whose name in public records is Yvonne Capistrano Felarca according to the Associated Press, was arrested July 18 in Los Angeles.
