Santa Ana, California —
(KUTV)- Two Las Vegas residents have been charged in California with trafficking and “pimping” a 16-year-old girl from Utah.
Brandon Antwan Hunter and Danielle Beniese Bates, both 31-years-old, were charged Tuesday by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office with human trafficking, pimping and pandering of a minor. Hunter received an additional charge of unlawful sex with a minor.
According to a statement from the district attorney’s office, Hunter and Bates met the 16-year-old girl from Utah in Las Vegas in November and took her to Costa Mesa, California. The statement does not give any information about why the teen was in Las Vegas, what part of Utah she is from, or how she met the couple.
“Between Nov. 20, 2017, and Nov. 24, 2017, Hunter is accused of having unlawful sex with the victim and pimping her by arranging for Jane Doe to meet with sex purchasers,” according to district attorney. “Hunter is accused of being a human trafficker/pimp and Bates is accused of working for him as a prostitute and recruiting other women to prostitute for Hunter.”
According to documents, the couple was arrested Nov. 24 when they got into a fight with each other at a motel and police were called. As officers investigated the incident, they discovered the teen girl in the room.
