Man beat infant son, broke bones


A Gaston County man is accused of beating his 2-month-old son so badly that the infant suffered broken ribs and a fractured femur.

Authorities booked Landry Nathan Davis Jr. into the Gaston County Jail on Tuesday, after he and the child’s mother took the infant to CaroMont Regional Medical Center to have medical workers examine a leg injury.

But doctors at the hospital discovered rib fractures — four in total on both sides of the rib cage — already in a stage of healing that were not previously reported by adults in charge of the child’s care, according to Gaston County Police Capt.
