Last week, Michelle Carter was sentenced to 15 months in jail after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in the death of her 18-year-old boyfriend Conrad Roy. Carter, who was 17 at the time of Roy’s death, sent text messages urging him to commit suicide by carbon monoxide poisoning. Carter’s lawyer argued that the conviction violated her right to free speech. Others feel that Carter was rightfully held responsible for her actions.
