NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (CNN) — People in North Little Rock, Arkansas are mourning the death of a teenager who police shot and killed during a traffic stop.
Officers said around 1:00 a.m. Sunday they were patting down three people who had been in the car when officers found a gun on one of them. Police said a fight then started over the weapon.
That’s when they say a 17-year-old male fired at least one shot towards the officers. Police returned fire killing the teen, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released the names of the suspect or the officers. They also have not said if any officers were injured.
The officers involved in this incident have been placed on paid administrative leave, per NLRPD policy.
