A three-day inquest has begun into the death of an 18-year-old woman from Truro, who died while under mental health care.
Courtney Doreen Saunders, also known as Courtney Smith, from Trelander East, died on February 19, 2017.
A postmortem examination cited her cause of death as acute liver failure and an overdose of pills.
The teenager, from Trelander East, has been described by her mum Pamela Smith, as “the most beautiful girl in the world”.
A pre-inquest hearing into her death was held in August last year, and it was decided that the inquest would be held in front of a jury in Truro.
Speaking at the time of her daughter’s death, Pam said: “Courtney was the most beautiful girl in the world. She was bright, bubbly and very outgoing.
“She was very artistic and had a great love for her music. She had a passion for animals and was always ready to help others out.
“She was a real character, her larger than life personality would always bring a smile to your face.”
