Penn State Student Dies as Result of Frat Hazing

Tim Piazza, a 19-year-old sophomore at Penn State, died after falling head first down a flight of basement stairs during a fraternity pledge night. As part of a hazing ritual, Piazza and other pledges were ordered to drink beer, wine, and vodka as fast as possible. Within an hour of drinking, Piazza was having trouble walking. Surveillance footage shows the frat brothers waited 12 hours to call for help after Piazza fell, even as he showed signs of a serious head injury. Instead, they threw water in his face and punched him in an attempt to revive him. Doctors confirmed that Piazza’s blood alcohol content showed a life-threatening amount of alcohol.
