A Papua New Guinea man will be deported from Tasmania after serving 76 days in prison on child sex charges.
Casper Hauaiembe, 52, arrived in the state in late April for a six-week professional training course.
Within days of his arrival he used Facebook to initiate contact with a local 10-year-old boy.
The boy’s father was quickly alerted to the messages and began responding as his son, claiming he was 12.
On May 3, Hauaiembe expressed that he wished the child was older, but offered to pay for a taxi so the child could meet and spend the night with him.
He said they “could cuddle up and sleep” and attempted to make seven separate calls to the boy via Facebook.
